Restoring reputations to the defamed -- Telling the truth about the undefamable

As we uncovered negligence and malice in Saskatoon's police station and prosecutor's office, similar bad investigations leading to wrongful convictions have turned up in other cities. Winnipeg is one.

Monique Turenne: caught in the perfect set-up?

It started out like many marriages, but Monique, who had already escaped from one abusive marriage quickly learned that David had secrets which he would continue to keep from her. He spent a lot of time in a world she knew nothing about . . .

Six years have passed since Monique Turenne found her husband's murdered body in her driveway in Panama City Florida. Just before she made the awful discovery, she says her home had been invaded, her children threatened and a brief case of money removed by a tall blonde man with tattoos and a ponytail. This man threatened to kill her children if she spoke of the incident.

That was Friday. During the next four days she and the kids were homeless and vehicleless with no access to their house. She was able to return for two hours to collect clothing before being taken on a military plane to Winnipeg where within 24 hours she was interrogated by Winnipeg police who coerced from her a confession, attended her husband's funeral where the police took her husband's relatives aside and read the bogus confession to them.

Convicted killer first claims he had an "affair" with victim's wife and she was his accomplice; 5 1/2 years later he alludes to one of his real henchmen -- "Diablo," the "ponytail man."

Meanwhile, Monique Turenne has lived in fear that these killers will make good their threat to kill her children. Why will the authorities in Florida not provide her with the disclosure she needs to clear her name? Why won't Canadian authorities assist her?
